Last year 庚子年 was a very memorable year for everyone. We have had the Covid-19 pandemic and have seen the implementation of “circuit breaker” almost everywhere on the globe; the great stock market corrections in March 2020 and then the great recovery by early November 2020; the bullish residential property prices in Singapore in the midst of a deep economic recession; the floods in China and the politics in USA. Could you agree with me that the year 2020 was largely an unforgettable year for many of us? Especially if you are born in the Chinese Zodiac signs of the Horse, Mouse, Rooster, Ox and Goat?
Fret not, the next 庚子年 will only come by again in the year 2080, 60 years later. It is based on the Chinese calendar traditionally known as 农历. It isn’t the same as our usual Gregorian calendar format. The Chinese solar calendar is based on the sun’s position in the Chinese 12 Zodiacs directions and were created by farmers in ancient China to manage their agricultural and farming activities.
There is a very strong possibility that the 庚子年 in 2080 would have similar negative vibes, major economic issues and generally miserable. History would repeat itself in this case. But that’s another tale to tell.
Let’s take a look at the Golden Ox 辛丑年 this year.
Would you be prospering in an Ox Year or otherwise?
I will take the next few minutes to share with you on your general fortunes, based on your Chinese Zodiac year of birth in relation to this 2021 Golden Ox Chinese Zodiac.
The first day of CNY, 立春 is dated 3rd February 2021, w.e.f. 11.08pm onwards. This is based on the Chinese Almanac 万年历.

The is the Chinese 八字 Bazi chart based on Gregorian calendar dated 3rd February 2021 at 11.08pm.
The Chinese 八字 Bazi chart is basically a Chinese metaphysic study on the interaction of the 5 elements 五行論 and it is able to decode general directions and grades of auspiciousness for a human being. In this case, we can also use it to read and analyse the general luck climate of a Zodiac year by decoding its first Chinese lunar day of the Chinese New Year.
For friends who have never learned Bazi before, I shall keep the analysis short, simple and easy to understand.
The Year column represents the period February to April 2021.
The Month and the Day columns represent the periods May to October 2021.
And finally, the Hour column represents the period November 2021 to January 2022.
It is the period between May to October 2021 that shows the main potential challenges in the Golden Ox Year. You would notice that these 2 columns are indicating metal element (top) countering the wood (below); 金克木 and water element (top) countering the fire (below); 水克火. In Bazi analysis, countering 克 is deemed inauspicious, unfriendly, losses and/ or antagonism. In this case, wood is identified as the wealth star 财 in the chart. I would regard this period as potential months of “wealth losses”. Many more companies may have financial solvency issues, the major stock markets may witness losses/ corrections or that many more individuals would have cashflow/ financial issues.
In short, 2021 辛丑年 is potentially all about financial issues being more domineering and acute.
The next question would be which Chinese Zodiac years of birth (regardless of gender) are likely to be more affected by this potential “poor wealth luck” phenomenon?
Friends who are born in the following Chinese Zodiac signs would have to take note:
- Year of the Goat; 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991
- Year of the Mouse; 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996
- Year of the Dragon; 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988
- Year of the Horse; 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990
- Year of the Dog; 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994
The above 5 Chinese Zodiac signs would have to be more prudent in financial management so as to minimize unexpected financial issues in the course of the year.
Having said so, not everyone in these 5 Chinese Zodiac signs would have potential unfavourable financial situations. BUT you will have to be really careful if you are born between:
- 1pm to 2.59pm
- 11pm to 12.59am
- 7am to 8.59am
- 7pm to 8.59pm
(Check your timing on your birth certificate)
For friends who are in these identified 5 Chinese Zodiac signs and are more than 50 years old, please also take good care of your general health this year.
In addition, there is also the possibility of residential relocation for those who are born in the Gregorian calendar months of April, October and especially July.
Next, what are the Chinese Zodiac signs that are likely to prosper in 辛丑年?
Friends who are born in the following Chinese Zodiac signs are likely to be lucky:
- Year of the Tiger; 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986
- Year of the Snake; 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989
- Year of the Rooster; 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993
Nonetheless, not every person with the above 3 Chinese Zodiac signs are bound for a year of “harvest and bliss”. You would still need to observe daily life diligence if you are born in the following birth timings:
- 1pm to 2.59pm
- 11pm to 12.59am
- 7am to 8.59am
- 7pm to 8.59pm
However, if you are born between the following birth timings (indicated below), you are very likely to have an abundant year of career and wealth opportunities:
- 3am to 4.59am
- 9am to 10.59am
- 5pm to 6.59pm
(Check your timing on your birth certificate)
Although 2020 庚子年 is a largely a dreadful year for many, the Bazi chart of 辛丑年 2021 year is not as awful as last year. Many practitioners like myself viewed 2020 as a year of major Qi 气 transitioning to another new phase from the last cycle. Could you recall the various natural phenomena occurring in 2019? The prolonged nationwide forest fire in Australia? The numerous solar and lunar eclipses, especially the “Super Blood Moon in January 2019”? Typhoon Hagibis in Japan? Severe heat waves in India and Japan? Tropical Cyclone Idai in Africa?
Last but not least, the above Bazi analysis on the various Chinese Zodiac signs in relation to the Golden Ox Year is largely a general view of favourable and unfavourable vibes a person may experience throughout 辛丑年. Only when the complete Date of Birth + Timing of Birth of a profile is available, the full analysis on whether 2021 is good or no good to you is still at the 60% to 70% accuracy level.
We wish all to have a great Golden Ox Year ahead!
January 2021
